The Importance of Mobile Unified Communications for Small Businesses

Most small companies rely on mobile to improve their business units. Unified communications for small businesses is integral for startups that places emphasis on telecommuting, as well as giving their employees the freedom to collaborate wherever they are, whenever possible. In essence, this flexibility is therefore integral in the development and progression of each business.

Take a look at the modern business landscape. Most millennials are glued to their laptops or mobile phones, as they spend meetings after meetings coordinating with their peers through these platforms. They often continue working way after office hours, powering through their tasks using their own personal laptops. Afterwards, they would connect to the company server to either use their emails or intranet and would coordinate with their peers. As result, employees are able to perform at their optimum potential while working in an environment that is conducive for them.

With unified communications, these small businesses are able to maximize the potential offered by their employees by capitalizing on their ability to work remotely. While the employees are working offsite, the company’s portfolio is improved as it reduces base cost when it lowers the requirement for office space, particularly when employees are on a come-as-needed basis.

That’s not to say that mobile interactions are becoming a hindrance to collaboration, however. Even employees who are working remotely are still connected to the company, with thanks to innovative communications solutions. They are able to attend meetings through teleconferencing or video conferencing, and are able to brainstorm and collaborate with their peers using the tools and technology they have on hand.

With effective unified communications platforms, small businesses are also reducing costs on hardware requirements. They no longer have to invest on upfront costs for technology as their employees can bring their own devices while integrating said device with the unified communication platform. In effect then, the employees are linked to the company’s main line, eradicating the need for an actual hardware in the physical office.

Of course, these are not just the benefits offered by unified communications on mobile.  Aside from conferencing applications, employees are also able to collaborate better more conducive environments. They can even share their screens so their colleagues would know exactly what they are trying to say.

In essence, mobile unified communications are helping small businesses realize their full potential. Their employees do not have to be physically in the office, which helps employees become more productive. In fact, a recent research paper from Wainhouse indicates that majority of respondents are comfortable using an audio or web conference tool from their mobile devices to enhance productivity, further reiterating the fact that when employees are comfortable in their environments, companies are able to expect more high quality output from them.

The trend towards mobile and unified communications continue to propel small businesses to focus on their growth, without having to deal with the nitty gritty of finding physical space to house all their talents. In fact, it reduces the need for an actual conference room, and eradicates the needs to fly in members of the team from remote places to the office. Instead of actually spending to get team together in a central place, the team can just set up their unified communications platforms and conduct the meeting wherever they are.

This just goes to show that a collaborative environment produces more productive employees.
